God adapts pt. 2

God adapts to us

In order to establish relationship with mankind, God adapts to us by becoming a man.

I was preaching about God adapting to us and using the original Christmas story as evidence when someone texted this verse.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” 2Chron. 16:9

The input I received was, “This is an example of how God pursues us AFTER we adapt to Him.”

I’m ok with saying God pursues us before, during, and after we adapt to Him.   God is always pursuing us.  I’ll stand by the idea that God is the first mover in our relationship and His first move is best seen in His becoming a man.  We don’t adapt to Him, He adapts to us.

The feedback I received continued with an explanation of how we adapt to God by referring to 2Tim 2:22, “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”

Saying, “God adapts to us, we don’t adapt to him,” is never meant to rule out Holy living by believers.  Holy living is enabled by God coming to us in human form (adapting).

Thanks for the feedback.
